Powerful Life Tools – Setting Yourself Up For Success — Creating Powerful Routines
Have you ever woken up one day and had the sudden realization that life is getting past you? You had goals, you had dreams, you had ambitions. In getting so involved in the day to day duties and responsibilities, a whole year has gotten past you, maybe five years, maybe even ten years have come and gone!! One thing that I have learned is that the duties and responsibilities will be a part of life automatically. We manage to get those things taken care of. However, when it comes to pursuing and making progress with our personal passions and dreams, we must be focused, we must be intentional, and we must be determined. Below are some suggestions of some very powerful tools that you can put in place in your life, to set yourself up for success in going after and achieving your own personal goals and dreams.
Creating Powerful and Effective Routines For Success.
Think about one thing that you would like to improve or focus on. Some examples could be time management and organization, weight loss and getting healthy, progress over the next month towards starting that small business you have always envisioned.
Now think about what supplies and equipment will be needed to get started on that particular goal tomorrow, or within this next week.
Make a list.
Over the next couple of days, pull those things together.
For time management and organization these things might include a calendar, a filing system, a trash can for decluttering.
For weight loss and getting healthy, this could include a calendar, a pair of tennis shoes, exercise clothes, a few healthy food items in the fridge.
For starting a small business, these things might include a calendar, tools for research such as a computer and the library, a binder with dividers for keeping paperwork and receipts organized from the beginning.
Once you have the supplies needed, again, make a concentrated effort over the next day or so, to think through your actual physical space, and the best place to keep your supplies.
For time management / organization goals, designate time on the calendar for when you will focus on this task, begin labeling the dividers in your filing system, and place your trash can and shredder appropriately for easy access for your first session of clearing out clutter.
For weight loss / getting healthy, designate time on the calendar for when you will focus on this task, place tennis shoes and exercise clothes in a specific and easily accessible place every day, make sure your blender is set out on the counter every evening and ready to go for healthy smoothie making in the morning.
For starting a small business, designate time on the calendar for when you will focus on this task, make sure your laptop or computer has working internet, know where the nearest library is for free and easy access to research materials.
These suggestions may seem simplistic at first glance. In reality they are. However, in the day to day busy-ness of life, we tend to neglect these easy, but crucial, first steps in getting started on an action plan. I invite you to consider the following questions.
1) What are the things in your life that cause you the most stress?
2) What are the things in your life that cause you the most joy?
3) What if we decreased and minimalized the stressors, then increased and maximized the joys?
4) What opportunities could be created in your life?
5) How would this feel for you?
I invite you to consider the possibilities!!!
